Privacy Policy

Effective date: 1.06.2026 · Last updated: 16.06.2026

This Privacy Policy explains how L. Gautier & Co GmbH – The Numbered Closets ("NMBRD", "we", "us", "our") collects and processes personal data when you join the NMBRD waitlist or use our pre-launch onboarding experience.

It is written to comply with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

This policy covers our pre-launch waitlist and onboarding only. When we launch our app and physical Closets, we will publish a separate, expanded policy covering membership, payments, and in-Closet processing.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The controller responsible for your personal data is:

L. Gautier & Co GmbH – The Numbered ClosetsCHE-414.927.980Bederstrasse 608002 ZürichSwitzerland

We are not legally required to appoint a Data Protection Officer for the waitlist, but you can reach us about any privacy matter at the address above.

2. What this policy applies to

It applies to:

  • our public website and the join / waitlist flow ("the onboarding experience"); and
  • any communication you receive from us as a waitlist member (for example, launch updates).

It does not apply to third-party websites we may link to.

3. What personal data we collect

We collect only the data needed to run the waitlist and to generate your style preview. Depending on how far you go through the flow, this may include:

You provide directly:

  • Name and email address
  • City you are interested in
  • Whether you are interested in the app, the Closets, or both
  • Free-text descriptions you give us about your wardrobe, an occasion, or how your closet makes you feel
  • Voice input, if you choose to answer by voice instead of typing. Your audio is transcribed into text and the audio is not retained after transcription.

We collect as you use the onboarding flow:

  • Your selections in the style "swipe" game (which images you like or pass on, and any pass reasons).
  • Your lifestyle/occasion selections.
  • Your wardrobe-gap and wardrobe-audit responses.
  • Short style-summary sentences generated from your responses.

We collect automatically:

  • Basic technical data such as device/browser type and approximate region, where this is necessary to deliver and secure the website.
  • A local cache stored in your browser (nmbrd_join_progress) so you can resume the flow; this stays on your device and expires after about 24 hours.

We do not ask you to upload photos of yourself or your own wardrobe during the waitlist, and we do not process payment data at this stage.

We do not intentionally collect special categories of data (such as health, religion, or ethnicity). Please do not include such information in free-text or voice fields.

5. Automated processing and profiling

Our onboarding uses AI to analyse your responses and produce a personalised style summary. This is a form of profiling, but it has no legal or similarly significant effect on you — it only generates a preview and informs which content we show you.

We do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you based solely on automated processing. You can contact us if you would like a person to review any summary we produced about you.

6. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers ("processors") who help us run the waitlist, under contracts requiring them to protect it and act only on our instructions:

  • Hosting / database: Supabase, for storing waitlist and onboarding data. Data are stored in Europe.
  • AI text and image analysis: Anthropic (Claude API), to generate style summaries and analyse style content.
  • Voice transcription and text analysis: OpenAI, to transcribe voice input and support style matching.

We may also disclose data where required by law, or to advisors and potential acquirers/investors in connection with a corporate transaction, subject to confidentiality.

International transfers

Some providers that help us run the waitlist are based outside Switzerland and the EEA, including in the United States: OpenAI (voice transcription and text matching) and Anthropic (style-summary generation). We send them the content and preference signals needed to create your style preview such as your voice input, free-text answers, and which styles you liked, but not your name or email address. We use these providers under their standard data-processing terms, which are designed to protect personal data transferred internationally (including, where applicable, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US / Swiss–US Data Privacy Framework). By joining the waitlist you also consent to this processing. You can withdraw consent or ask us for more detail at any time by contacting us.

7. How long we keep your data

  • Waitlist data: until launch in your selected city, and for a reasonable period afterwards to manage your transition to membership, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
  • Voice recordings: deleted after transcription.
  • Marketing consent records: kept for as long as needed to demonstrate compliance.

When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

8. Your rights

Under the FADP and, where it applies, the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data deleted ("right to be forgotten");
  • restrict or object to certain processing;
  • withdraw consent at any time (without affecting processing already carried out);
  • receive your data in a portable format and, where technically feasible, have it transferred;
  • not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that significantly affects you.

To exercise any of these, email contact@thenumberedclosets.com. We will respond within the time limits set by applicable law.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority:

  • In Switzerland: the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), Bern.
  • In the EU/EEA: your local data protection authority.

9. How we protect your data

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including access controls and encryption in transit to protect your data. No system is completely secure, but we work to reduce risk and to address any incident promptly.

10. Cookies, analytics and advertising

Our onboarding flow stores a small amount of functional information in your browser (such as the nmbrd_join_progress cache) so you can pause and resume. This stays on your device and is necessary for the Service to work.

We also use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how people move through each step of the onboarding, so we can improve it. GA4 sets cookies and collects pseudonymous usage data (such as a device identifier, approximate location, and the steps you complete). This data is shared with Google, which may process it outside Switzerland and the EEA, including in the United States.

We also use the Meta pixel and Meta's Conversions API to measure our advertising and understand which campaigns bring people to the waitlist. This sets cookies and shares event data with Meta Platforms, including a hashed (pseudonymised) version of your email address when you join the waitlist, so Meta can match the conversion. Meta may process this data outside Switzerland and the EEA, including in the United States, and acts as an independent controller for its own purposes.

Because analytics and advertising cookies are not strictly necessary, we only load Google Analytics and the Meta pixel if you accept cookies in our cookie banner. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time. Declining will not affect your ability to use the Service.

11. Children

The waitlist is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

If you believe a minor has provided us data, please contact us so we can delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product develops. We will post the updated version here and change the "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will notify waitlist members by email.
